Webinar: How to plan for the possibility that your pets might outlive you.
Thousands of companion animals are surrendered to US shelters each year simply because their humans passed away or became ill and had never made plans for the continued care of their pets. Join us for a webinar, held in conjunction with 2nd Chance 4 Pets, on October 24th where you can learn more about this issue.
Food Safety for Senior Dogs and Choking Tips
Senior dogs are part of the family and some of the beings we are most grateful to have in our lives. As we move through fall and into Thanksgiving, unique foods and spices may be added to our diets. Denise Fleck, The Pet Safety Crusader, shares which of these autumn favorites are safe for the whole family (including Fido) and which are potentially hazardous, meaning you could end up at the emergency vet if ingested.
Giving Tuesday
In celebration of Adopt a Senior Pet Month, 23 senior dogs took to the skies from California to Oregon on a journey to their forever homes. Although we are celebrating 23 heartwarming adoptions, thousands more at-risk senior dogs in shelters all across the country still need your help. With your support, this GivingTuesday we can ensure more senior dogs like Maggie spend their golden years safe and loved, no matter where they call home.
#GreyMuzzleGratitude Challenge Winners Announced
In celebration of Adopt a Senior Pet Month and the thankfulness of the season, we asked everyone who adores an older dog (distinguished grey muzzle on full display or not) to help spread the word by submitting their pup in our #GreyMuzzleGratitude Challenge. The love stories and expressions of gratitude came rolling in and truly warmed our hearts!

Modern Dog spreads the word about Grey Muzzle’s mission to help senior dogs thrive
We are thrilled to be featured in Modern Dog, a lifestyle magazine for modern dogs and their companions. Raising awareness of senior dogs helps us take a step closer to our vision of a world where every senior dog thrives and no old dog dies alone and afraid.
Grey Muzzle and grantee Pet Rescue Pilots highlighted on Today.com
Grey Muzzle celebrated Adopt a Senior Pet Month in style with Today.com. We are thankful to Anna Kaplan for sharing the story of this special lifesaving mission made possible by a Grey Muzzle grant to Pet Rescue Pilots. On November 5, Pet Rescue Pilots flew senior dogs from rural California shelters where they had little chance of adoption to Oregon where they were welcomed by foster parents and forever families.
People.com features Grey Muzzle-sponsored rescue mission
Grey Muzzle is honored to be featured in an article on People.com about a very special seniors-only rescue mission. For its 125th rescue flight, Pet Rescue Pilots, with a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, flew 23 senior dogs from California to Oregon, ensuring these older pups found loving homes.
Hope for the Holidays
Every senior dog deserves health and happiness in their golden years. Because of your generosity, senior dogs like Peanut have the best gift of all: hope for the holidays. Peanut was surrendered to a vet’s office for euthanasia because “he was old,” yet there was hope in his cloudy, aged eyes.
