Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries

Second Chance has been at the forefront of animal rescue and adoption in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, for over two decades. It is the longest-operating and now only free-standing animal rescue facility in the county, independent of any other organization and entirely funded by donations and grants. In addition to intake and adoption, Second Chance is an ever-evolving community resource assisting pet owners with veterinary expenses, pet food, rehoming animals, care for outdoor cat colonies, humane education, and more. 

Grey Muzzle funding will address senior dogs' immediate and long-term medical and dental needs. It will also support end-of-life care and provide basic supplies for hospice homes or assist in keeping senior dogs in their homes. Second Chance will develop and promote educational materials, resources, and incentives to help senior dog owners make informed decisions about their pets’ care. These materials will raise awareness among the general population about the specific needs of senior dogs, with the ultimate goal of encouraging the adoption or fostering of dogs like Koba, an older husky mix who was found as a stray and is now seeking his retirement home.
