Second Chance Animal Services, Inc.Funded 2018, 2023, 2024
Founded in 1999, Second Chance Animal Services assists over 49,000 pets annually. They operate an adoption center and four community veterinary hospitals offering access to care at subsidized rates for qualified households. The Almost Home facility accepts animals at risk of euthanasia from shelters nationwide. It prepares them for placement in loving homes regardless of age or medical needs. Second Chance also provides community outreach, educational programs, and a pet food pantry helping families facing financial hardships provide proper nutrition for their beloved pets.
The "Grey Muzzles & Meds" program seeks to reduce the number of senior dogs surrendered to Second Chance Animal Services by helping owners experiencing financial distress who feel they have no choice but to give up their dogs. Funds will help to cover the cost of medication, ongoing exams and testing, and prescription food for senior dogs like 11-year-old Jerry.
