Humane Society of North TexasFunded 2016, 2022-2024
The Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) was founded in 1905 and is proud to be the oldest animal welfare organization in Dallas/Fort Worth. HSNT’s mission is to save, shelter, protect, and advocate for all animals in need in North Texas. HSNT accomplishes this by providing the community with innovative, affordable, and lifesaving services. These services include pet adoptions, free or low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations, returning lost pets to their owners, and cruelty investigations. HSNT operates multiple pet adoption centers, a transition facility, and a 33-acre equine/livestock ranch to save thousands of homeless, neglected, or injured pets annually. In 2023, HSNT helped more than 17,300 pets and achieved a live release rate of 97%.
A grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization will enable the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) to provide free primary veterinary care to 100 senior dogs of low-income older adults through the Rae of Hope program. This program offers essential services like vaccinations, microchipping, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm medication at no cost to pet owners, helping senior dogs stay in loving homes with their senior owners. More than 87% of Rae of Hope clients lack access to affordable veterinary care. In 2023, HSNT served 1,062 dogs through program clinics, with over 36% being seniors who might have otherwise entered shelters. Last year, Rae of Hope helped 392 senior dogs like Buddy stay in their loving homes.
