Gramma Tala9 YRS
Tala is available at Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter in Maryland and is a staff and volunteer favorite. She has been called the perfect dog! She came in as a stray and has been at the shelter for almost an entire year, and in a foster home for several months. She is a 40-50 pound little pittie girl who loves absolutely everyone! She is a wormy, wiggle-waggle girl, who loves toys, belly rubs and being talked to (especially when she has a toy in her mouth). She is food motivated and will do tricks for tasty treats -- and she already knows sit, sit up, and roll over.
Tala is an older girl, 8+, and older animals often get looked over, even though senior dogs are the best! She is still spry and playful, loves to play fetch, and walks beautifully on a leash. She's good with dogs, she likes cats, and has shown very mild interest in her foster's bird and bunnies. She also excels at scent work and goes to classes on a regular basis with other working dogs (and she's a rockstar at this!)
Tala does have a skin condition, which is manageable, and needs to be on a certain diet. The shelter already performed her dental and removed a cancerous tumor that has since shown no signs of returning -- she is in excellent health. Tala can also have some anxiety if she is contained, but if she's allowed to roam free or is around people, she relaxes and is just fine.
Tala visits the shelter on a regular basis and hangs out with staff and volunteers and just wants a home of her own where she can wiggle around while getting belly rubs and giving her humans lots of kisses. Tala is a complete love. Because she is a senior dog, she also qualifies for $40 off her adoption fee. If you want a near perfect dog who loves people, especially kids, is house-trained and knows basic commands, Tala is your girl!
