Rain
Rain is a nine-year-old pitbull mix who was surrendered to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA when her owner experienced housing difficulties. Staff remarked how she always had a smile on her face, though things weren’t always happy for this senior girl.
Rain had a rough start at the shelter when her spay surgery and mass treatment had to be postponed due to an upper respiratory infection. Once she recovered, CASPCA’s vets performed her surgeries. With support from The Grey Muzzle Organization, four masses were removed and sent away for analysis. Luckily, all of the masses were benign, and Rain recovered well.
Before she found her forever home, Rain had one more trial to endure. She suddenly started experiencing problems with her right leg, and tested positive for a tick-borne disease. Funding from Grey Muzzle provided her with antibiotics, and she was disease-free in no time.
This happy-go-lucky girl was adopted a couple months later and will spend her retirement comfortably with her new family.
