Jackson
After the bittersweet loss of their recently-adopted senior Lab mix, Lil Bit, a kindhearted family opened their hearts and home to another senior, 12-year-old Jackson the Jack Russell, in Lil Bit's honor.
When her adopters brought home 9-year-old Lil Bit from Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA), they never imagined the joy she gave their family would be so short-lived. Lil Bit was always game for a trip to the family’s vacation home on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and loved to watch the ducks in the marsh. However, just six months after joining the family, Lil Bit was diagnosed with cancer. FOHA's Senior Care Plan, supported by Grey Muzzle, helped the family give Lil Bit the best possible medical care through a difficult time. She passed away surrounded by love.
In honor of Lil Bit and the joy she brought, this wonderful family adopted Jackson just a few months later. Because he is partially blind and deaf, the shelter environment was not ideal for him. However, he quickly adapted to his new home and loving family. Jackson’s greatest desire is to curl up in a nice lap and snuggle, which was just what his family needed to mend their broken hearts.
“We are blessed to have Jackson and honor our Lil Bit by having another senior dog. Jackson is our sweet boy who hops and runs like a jackrabbit—so happy every morning to get his breakfast. He bonded with us so quickly and makes us smile every day.”
Jackson has also benefited from FOHA’s Senior Care Plan and recently received a clean bill of health. With The Grey Muzzle Organization's support, FOHA's Senior Care Plan has an even greater impact on the lives of dogs and the people who love them. Dogs like Lil Bit and Jackson are enjoying love and care through their golden years. And families like Jackson's who welcome senior dogs home are rewarded with so much joy in return.
