Chunky Brown
Chunky Brown’s family was terribly worried about his swollen front paw and hair loss on his belly, but they were struggling financially and simply couldn’t afford care at their local animal clinic. Thankfully, United Coalition for Animals (UCAN) was there to help. Their mission is keeping pets in their loving homes by providing professional and affordable veterinary care.
UCAN’s veterinarian was concerned that Chunky may have Cushing’s disease, which weakens the immune system and could leave him vulnerable to other diseases and infections. Because of a grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization, UCAN was able to do diagnostic bloodwork at a cost of only $10. The results confirmed the diagnosis. Although Cushing's is usually a lifelong condition, it can be managed with medication. Chunky's family is grateful for the care he received and thankful for a treatment plan to keep their beloved senior dog happy and healthy.
