Founded in 1982, Nevada SPCA is southern Nevada’s original no-kill animal shelter. Nevada SPCA takes in over 2,500 dogs, cats, and small pets annually, giving them medical care and then finding them loving new homes. Seventy percent of Nevada SPCA’s intake is from owner-surrendered animals, with the remainder from transfers from other shelters and rescue groups. Nevada SPCA's Community Support Desk provides free pet food and low-cost veterinary assistance to Southern Nevadans in financial need to help keep pets where they belong:  with the owners they love.

The Grey Muzzle grant will help Nevada SPCA continue to provide free veterinary services to owners of senior dogs who cannot afford veterinary care, including dental cleanings and extractions, diagnostic blood work, surgeries, medications, and vaccinations. The grant will help dogs like 13-year-old Buddy, who has a history of intermittent seizures.  His owner has had him since he was four weeks old, and she and her son have been with Buddy through a lot, including six moves. He is their emotional support. Sadly, Buddy was attacked by another dog and needed urgent care for his wounds, but his family could not afford the medical attention he needed. Thanks to the Grey Muzzle grant, Nevada SPCA got Buddy in immediately to see his veterinarian, who treated his wounds and got him up-to-date on his vaccinations. Now healthy, Buddy is back home where he belongs.
