Max’s Helping Paws FoundationFunded 2022-2024
The mission of Max’s Helping Paws is to be an accessible financial lifeline to low-income, Monterey County residents whose pets are facing a health crisis. This reduces surrender, suffering, shelter overflow, and economic euthanasia that often result from a pet guardian’s inability to afford needed veterinary care. As a financial lifeline, Max’s Helping Paws reduces the fear and stress of getting urgent, unplanned veterinary care. Many of Max’s award recipients are part of an underserved population, such as seniors, the homeless, veterans, and disabled pet owners.
This grant from Grey Muzzle provides support to Max’s established Get Em’ to the Vet and Short-Term Care Programs. It will assist senior dogs needing emergent, unexpected, and necessary veterinary care. As dogs get older, health crises often increase. Max’s strongly believes a senior dog’s fate should not be determined due to financial constraints. Sometimes, this means needing diagnostics to get an answer, and sometimes it means initial treatment or medication. Max’s keeps senior dogs happy, healthy, and home.
