Lionel’s Legacy was founded in 2012 and provides a haven for homeless senior dogs in Southern California. An all-volunteer organization, it was named after a homeless senior dog who shed light on the joys and challenges of caring for aging pets. Lionel’s Legacy works with local shelters and pet owners who cannot care for older pets. Many animals enter local shelters when owners pass away or cannot afford pet care. Lionel's Legacy offers lifelong care thanks to dedicated foster families, adopters, and donors. Through the Keeping Pets Home program, they provide financial assistance to help families keep their companion animals at home where they belong.

A grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization will provide vital dental care for 40 senior pets through the Lionel’s Legacy “Free To Chew” Community Pet Dental Clinic, part of the Keeping Pets Home program. The Free To Chew program is a pet retention model aimed at providing subsidized dental care to reduce unnecessary euthanasia and animal surrender due to pet guardians’ lack of financial resources, minimize other costly medical conditions exacerbated by poor oral health, and improve senior dogs’ quality of life. It will help sweet seniors like Nadeen and Nano!
