    Brother Wolf Animal Rescue
    Funded in 2016, and 2021 to 2024

The mission of Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is to better the lives of companion animals and the people who love them. Brother Wolf envisions a community where all companion animals are valued, cared for and thriving, and where lives are enriched by the special bond between people and animals. Through adoption and pet retention programs, a low-cost mobile spay and neuter clinic, lifesaving shelter transfer partnerships, and extensive volunteer and foster networks, Brother Wolf impacts the lives of thousands of animals each year in Western North Carolina.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is dedicated to saving senior dogs from euthanasia in overcrowded, under-resourced shelters across Western North Carolina. By working closely with over 30 partner shelters, Brother Wolf transfers at-risk senior dogs into their care, where they receive comprehensive medical treatment, foster home placements, and adoption support. This grant will allow Brother Wolf to continue and expand their life-saving work, ensuring more senior dogs receive the second chance they deserve.

    About Better Together
Thanks to a generous grant from a private foundation, Grey Muzzle launched “Better Together” –an innovative grant initiative to promote lifesaving partnerships between open-admission shelters and other animal welfare organizations. These partnerships are vital in ensuring senior dogs receive the care and attention they deserve.

This is about more than funding. It’s about creating and sharing knowledge. As part of our Learning Partnership, grantees will collaborate, sharing their progress, challenges, and successes. With guidance from the Grey Muzzle team, they’ll gather insights that will help shape future initiatives and spread best practices nationwide.
